8 June 2021

The UCL Institute for Sustainable Heritage has received funding from Ecclesiastical Insurance and The Lamport Hall Preservation Trust for student scholarships on two of their MSc programmes.

ISH scholarships

UCL Institute for Sustainable Heritage is pleased to announce two new scholarships awarded by Ecclesiastical Insurance and The Lamport Hall Preservation Trust, available to students studying on either the Sustainable Heritage MSc or the new Heritage Evidence, Foresight and Policy MSc

Professor May Cassar, CBE, and Director of the UCL Institute of Sustainable Heritage, said:

I am grateful for the generosity and foresight of our two scholarship donors - Ecclesiastical and Lamport Hall Preservation Trust - who are each enabling one deserving, bright student to further their career by studying on our flagship Masters programme on Sustainable Heritage and our exciting new Masters programme on Heritage Evidence, Foresight and Policy. Their commitment, alongside ours, will provide students with an educational opportunity that is second to none.”

The Ecclesiastical Insurance Bursary

The Ecclesiastical Insurance Bursary is available to enable heritage professionals to study on the Sustainable Heritage MSc. Up to £23,000 (to cover the cost of fees and a stipend) is available for UK applicants who have the offer of a place for either full-time or part-time/flexible study on this course and who intend to accept or have already firmly accepted an offer.

The Sustainable Heritage programme focuses on management and sustainability of cultural heritage worldwide. It includes the cross-disciplinary study of current conservation policies, projects, methodologies and practice in the context of historic buildings, collections, site and landscapes.

Applications are now open for the Ecclesiastical Insurance Bursary. High-calibre candidates are invited to apply. The bursary will cover course fees and subsistence depending on the status of the applicant. The MSc in Sustainable Heritage offered by the UCL Institute of Sustainable Heritage uses an MBA-style block teaching model, allowing time and space for reflection and study. Teaching takes place in business-like small groups, and students are encouraged to show initiative in their studies.

It is great to see the continuation of our long relationship with Ecclesiastical Insurance, who share our vision to sustain heritage.  Over the years, they have supported many alumni who have gone on to successful careers in the heritage sector.” Dr Katherine CurranAssociate Professor and programme lead for Sustainable Heritage MSc.
