Ed Gritten graduated from Sustainable Heritage MSc in 2021, and has recently begun a new role using the tools and perspectives learnt on the course to empower local voices in sustainable development.

In collaboration with Heritage Malta, an international team of heritage students from UCL Institute for Sustainable Heritage have been studying the site, ahead of the plans to eventually open the building and garden to the public.

For the annual field trip module this year, the Sustainable Heritage MSc students worked in collaboration with the Wallace Collection. Situated in central London, the Wallace Collection houses a spectacular collection of paintings, furniture and other historic artefacts.

Sustainable UCL's team amongst treesDid you know that plans to make our campus net-zero by 2030? In fact, UCL has one of the most ambitious sustainability strategies of all UK universities, recognised by a a 'First Class' award by People & Planet's University League which ranks UK universities on their environmental and ethical performance and the prestigious Green Gown climate action award.

In our department our green champions won UCL’s Gold Sustainability award recognising sustainable practices are embedded in our research, teaching and operations.

Take advantage of UCL's facilities

UCL's new student centre​​​​​​Did you know that UCL’s 18 specialist libraries are home to more than two million books?  They also hold subscriptions to more than 35,000 journals, available to support your learning.

We’ve got plenty of study spaces available. Our state-of-the-art student centre has 1,104 new study spaces available for you to use. Beyond being a great place to study, building has a ‘Outstanding’ sustainability rating from BREEAM and over the last year has generated 30.44 megawatt hours of renewable energy from the solar panel on its roof. We’re also home to three museums, the Bloomsbury Theatre, and have access to numerous sporting facilities.

Get careers support

People speaking with each other at the UCL campusOur  alumni are now embedded in the industry around the world working at organisations such as National Trust, English Heritage, the Office of Public Works in Ireland and more. Through networking events you will get the opportunity to engage with them and find out how you can take the next step in your career.

UCL also has a Careers service offering one-to-one advice, careers fairs, employer-led skills sessions and more to guide you through kick-starting your career when you graduate.
