About this lecture

Dr Konrad Xuereb will present a selection of refurbishment projects of heritage buildings in London and overseas that he has worked on. He will discuss the intricate challenges posed by the existing fabric of heritage buildings and how the engineering designs addressed these constraints to allow successful completion of the projects. He will also discuss large scale infrastructural projects he has proposed in Malta, with emphasis on their impact on heritage sites, including Valletta, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Virtual event details

This virtual lecture will consist of a 45 minute presentation from Konrad Xuereb, followed by a 15 minute Q&A chaired by Josep Grau-Bove, ISH Associate Professor.

About the speaker

Dr Konrad Xuereb is a Director at KonceptX, a structural engineering consultancy practice, with a focus on sustainability in the built environment. He has worked on several high-profile international projects, including award-winning pedestrian bridges, cultural and residential buildings, high-rise buildings, and refurbishments of listed buildings. He previously worked at Arup and Alan Baxter & Associates both in the UK. Konrad holds a PhD from University College London, and is also a visiting lecturer at University of Malta.
