Finland's Future of Education 2045 vision
Join us in person for a talk from Finland's Minister of Education, Anders Adlercreutz, on the country's vision for the future of education.

Finland’s aim is to create a future vision as a fast point in the horizon for navigating among uncertain futures. Finland is constructing the future of education on two foundational building blocks: equality and ‘sivistys’ – a Finnish word derived from ‘civilization’, but which doesn’t really have a cognate in English. Those who know German will be familiar with bildung – a concept that encompasses human growth, knowledge and ethical responsibility. A cohesive and long-term vision is needed to address both the challenges, and the opportunities brought about by digital transformation. Technology cannot be seen as merely a tool for innovation; it is also a potential equalizer and part of ‘sivistys’.
This talk, chaired by Deputy Director Dr Christopher Harker from the Institute for Global Prosperity (IGP), is co-organised by Dr Ville Takala (IGP) and Dr Jennifer Chung from the Department of Learning and Leadership at the UCL Faculty of Education and Society.
