Walking Book Club: Brooklyn by Colm Tóibín

Walk and talk with UCL Postgrad Urbanists through Hyde Park whilst discussing the 2009 novel Brooklyn by Colm Tóibín. The novel follows Eilis Lacey, a young woman who migrates from a small Irish town to Brooklyn, New York for work in the 1950s. As Eilis encounters new environments, cultures and people, the reader encounters a wonderful portrayal of all that entails facing a new city and yourself.

We will meet at the Hyde Park Corner gates at the park entrance at 18:00. All are welcome, especially UCL PhD students interested in joining the Postgrad Urbanists Committee. Join us whether you have read a little, a lot or all of the book.

Please note: The book walk will cover a reasonable distance and participants will be standing for the duration of the walk. We advise comfortable shoes and to bring water with you.
