About
Architectural & Interdisciplinary Studies BSc is a unique undergraduate degree programme that enables students to tailor their three years of study by selecting all of their modules; electives are chosen mainly from the UCL Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment but are also complemented by other modules from across the whole of UCL. The greatest strength of the programme is its interdisciplinary nature, allowing the students to determine where, what and how they study, supporting them to develop the skills to build their own academic and social agency.
The following events and workshops, taking place around The Bartlett Summer Show 2025, are student led and serve as a clear demonstration of the originality, collaborative nature, academic rigour and independent spirit of each of the students.
Events are taking place in various locations across UCL, please take note of the specific building for the event in the individual descriptions below.
The Future of Architecture is Circular: Workshop 1 – Creating a Regenerative Materials Pavilion for Global Generation
A design workshop for Buildfest in Room 6.02, 22 Gordon Street.
Organised and hosted by Rushdania Iqbal (AIS BSc) and John Ogunyiluka (Architecture BSc) Founders Keepers student leaders for The Bartlett's materials waste interception process.
Two practical hands-on design and delivery workshops on natural, regenerative materials and reuse to create a regenerative materials pavilion for Global Generation as part of Build Fest 2025 at The Story Garden.
Led by Resource 12 (AIS/Architecture BSc alumni materials reuse CIC), in collaboration with Global Generation, Alex Dhesi (Bartlett Institute of Natural Resources), materials reuse organisation ReCollective, and StuCAN, ACAN’s student climate action network.

Design workshop producing proposals for a regenerative materials structure to be constructed on site to display Story Garden’s Natural Materials Library for Build Fest 2025.

Wild Campus Commons: Beauty and Biodiversity by Design on the Bloomsbury Campus

A student design workshop and public evening event organised by AIS BSc student Oscar Tian and the BSA Society, supported by Greening Cities module leader Blanche Cameron.
Bringing the AIS BSC Greening Cities principles to this ‘connected curriculum’ day, centring student empowerment in the design and creation of university Living Labs.
Wildlife, design and education experts include:
- Biodiverse gardener and innovator in public realm design John Little (Hilldrop, Care Not Capital)
- Ecologist and naturalist Andy Phillips (Great Dixter, Hilldrop, Inner Temple Gardens)
- Wildlife-friendly, climate-resilient garden designer and author Susanna Grant (Hello Linda, Care Not Capital)
- Wildlife craftivists Richard Scott (The National Wildflower Centre, Eden Project) and Polly Moseley (Scouse Flower House)
- Nature-based solutions advocate and educator Blanche Cameron (Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL Wild Bloomsbury)
- Natalie Isaac Head of Sustainability, University of London and others.

An exciting, AIS BSc student-chaired evening of interactive discussions between wildlife, design and education experts, on the challenges and opportunities for beautiful as well as truly biodiverse, low-carbon, climate-resilient design in the public realm on university campuses and elsewhere.

Events are being filmed by AIS BSc alumna, Mahika Gautam, for a short film communicating the University of London’s Living Lab process.

Founders Keepers Tour of The Bartlett Summer Show 2025
16:00–17:00 Wednesday 03 July
Learn about the BSA’s ‘waste’ interception and reuse process and the use of regenerative materials included in this year’s Summer Show.
The tour will be led by BSA Founders Keepers 24/25 team, Rushdania Iqbal (AIS BSc) and John Ogunyiluka (Architecture BSc).
BSA Founders Keepers 24/25 is supported by UCL ChangeMakers, The Bartlett's B-made and Facilities teams and staff across the school.

A practical hands-on workshop creating the Natural Materials Library pavilion on the Build Fest 2025 site, led by Founders Keepers and Resource 12, supported by expert natural materials builder Glen McDonald and designer Hannah Burrough (Global Generation), Alex Dhesi, Blanche Cameron and others.
