Strengthening Collaboration Between Project Organisations and Local Authorities
Join us for the launch of the final report funded by the British Academy Leverhulme Research Grant.

Founded through the prestigious British Academy Leverhulme grant, this event presents a report on research findings that explore the complex relationships between project-delivery organizations and local authorities in the planning and execution of major infrastructure projects. These challenging collaborations are often overlooked, which is surprising because problems in such collaborations can lead to community distrust, delays, and cost overruns.
By comparing two UK megaprojects, this report identifies, analyses, and addresses these tensions by examining their symptoms (what does not work), diagnosis (why it does not work), and recommended treatments (how they can work). Drawing on more than 70 interviews, direct observations, and a roundtable event, a roadmap for successful collaboration will be presented to project delivery organizations and local authorities involved in the consent process, as well as to governments seeking to enhance the effectiveness of this process.
