He is a global expert of the World Economic Forum and advisor to national governments. He serves as Professor of Economics, Strategy and Foresights at Hult Int'l Business School (where he directs the Futures Impact Lab) as well as at Harvard University’s Division of Continuing Education where he teaches a popular executive course on Artificial Intelligence. He is an appointed Faculty Affiliate at the Center for International Development, at Harvard Kennedy School as well as at the Institute for Quantitative Social Science. He is Faculty Associate at the Davis Center for Eurasian Studies, also at Harvard University.

He is an appointed Professor of Public Policy at Mohamed Bin Rashid School of Government in the UAE and holds visiting professorships around the world. In 2023, a chaired professorship under his name has been edified at Woxsen University in India, on Global Shifts and Industrial Transitions, where he gatekeeps a team of academic practitioners who are advancing the mandate of the chair. Equally, he was appointed Adjunct Professor of Public Policy at Georgetown University, where he works with public leaders to shape global policy options on competitiveness and digital governance.

Mark holds prestigious fellowships at UCL's Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose as a Policy Fellow, at University of Cambridge as a Senior Associate, and as Senior Fellow for the Digital Impact Alliance from the United Nations Foundation and DLT Foundation in the UK. He has been Senior Fellow of the Institute for Competitiveness as well as the Global Federation of Competitiveness Councils.

He has studied at the University of Tartu, Estonia, and the University of Marburg, Germany, in philosophy, political philosophy, classics and public administration.
He led Ragnar Nurkse School of Innovation and Governance for 10 years, building it into one of the leading innovation and governance schools in the region. 

Professor Kattel has also served on various public policy commissions, including the Estonian Research Council and European Science Foundation. He has worked as an expert for the OECD, UNDP and the European Commission, and served as a member of E-Estonia Council advising the Prime Minister of Estonia. Currently, he leads the Estonian Government’s Gender Equality Council.

He has published extensively on innovation policy, its governance and specific management issues. In 2013, he received Estonia's National Science Award for his work on innovation policy. Rainer received his BA in political philosophy in 1996, MA in Classics in 1998, and PhD in Public Administration in 2001 (all University of Tartu, Estonia).

Working in climate policy for the New Zealand Government, she developed a curiosity about complex systems and the ways that we can intervene for positive impact. Wallis is passionate about bringing intergenerational fairness to the fore in decision making, and has a particular focus on the intersection between gender and climate impact. She has come to IIPP to explore tools for impact within these realms. She holds a passion for changing the way we talk about the public service and its role within the complex challenges we face in the 21st century.
