Chance Coughenour is an American digital archaeologist and head of preservation at Google Arts & Culture. With a background in history, archaeology, computer engineering, and 3D mapping, his work is dedicated to digitally preserving and democratising access to cultural heritage. He leads these efforts globally with cultural institutions to help promote our shared past by leveraging Google’s technology ranging from machine learning to interactive visualisations & educational storytelling. Recent projects include Ukraine is Here, Osun Osogbo Sacred Grove, Mali Magic, Woolaroo, Descent of the Serpent, Heritage on the Edge, Fabricius, Exploring the Maya World, & The Art & Soul of Mosul.
