International trade and carbon emissions
Join us for a keynote lecture under the theme of 'Climate change and low carbon futures' with Professor Zhifu Mi and chaired by Professor D'Maris Coffman.

The CO2 emissions embodied in international trade account for more than 20% of global emissions. International trade might cause carbon leakage, which refers to that businesses were to transfer production to other countries with laxer emission constraints. Emerging economies have been making larger contributions to international trade and associated emission transfer. Understanding the trends and drivers of the CO2 emissions embodied in international trade is of great importance, and the rising emissions embodied in South–South trade need to be paid more attention.
