One Year? - Film Screening & Discussion
In this screening and discussion marking the anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, four short films about Ukraine will connect this anniversary with events of the past year and those that took place in 2014.

This event is organised by Architecture & Historic Urban Environments MA and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at The Bartlett, in collaboration with King’s College London.
About
On 24 February 2022, Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began.
But does this week really mark the first anniversary of the war? Or did it start much earlier?
As a prelude to a collaboration between The Bartlett and Kings College London's King's Films for Ukraine 2023: Through the Female Lens!, and in solidarity with all the Ukrainians who continue to fight for their freedom and to mark this grim milestone, on Friday 24 February 2023 The Bartlett hosts the screening of a collection of short films about Ukraine that connect this anniversary with events of the past year and those that took place in 2014. This will be followed by reflections and a public discussion with Ievgeniia Gubkina (UCL and Kharkiv University) and Olga Sydorushkina (film curator from Green Theater, Odesa) on history’s ruptures and continuities and how this affects Ukraine, its people and its cities, and potentially the entire world.
There will be a film screening, followed by a public discussion chaired by Jenia and Olga. The four films being screened are:
- Stronger than Arms by Babylon'13, 2014 (62 min)
- Fortress Mariupol. The Last Days of Azovstal by Yuliia Hontaruk and Dmytro 'Orest' Kozatskyi, 2022 (5 min)
- Liturgy of Anti-Tank Obstacles by Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk, 2022 (12 min)
- Peace and Tranquility by Myro Klochko and Anatoliy Tatarenko, 2022 (12 min)
Free drinks and snacks will be provided. No booking necessary.
