With increased societal awareness of the urgency to combat climate change and the transition to a low carbon economy, there is growing recognition of the need to build-resource efficient economies. This has prompted many actors around the globe to seek solutions to solving environmental issues. In the past decade, entrepreneurs have become instrumental in solving our most pressing societal challenges through business model, technological, financial and social innovation.
The founder of Vanke, Shi Wang, will share his story with UCL students about Vanke’s relationship in confronting climate change. He will explain how he led 1 million Chinese companies to join the stage at the UN Climate Conference, and what challenges and opportunities he sees for China's carbon-neutral economy.

Shi Wang is widely regarded as one of the most successful entrepreneurs in China. He has been a keen supporter on climate mitigation in the last decade. Most recently, he sponsored the only Chinese venue at COP26 last November through Vanke Foundation.
