Profe Hyun Bang Shin , Prof Maurizio Marinelli

Hyun Bang Shin is Professor of Geography and Urban Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science and directs the LSE Saw Swee Hock Southeast Asia Centre. His research centres on the critical analysis of the political economy of urbanisation, gentrification, displacement, urban spectacles, and urbanism, with particular attention to Asian cities. His books include Planetary Gentrification (2016, Pluto Press), Neoliberal Urbanism, Contested Cities and Housing in Asia (2019, Palgrave Macmillan), and Exporting Urban KoreaReconsidering the Korean Urban Development Experience (2021, Routledge) among others. He is a trustee and treasurer of the Urban Studies Foundation and an editor of the International Journal of Urban and Regional Research

At IGP, Prof Maurizio Marinelli leads the Asia Prosperity Research Hub (APRH) whose aim is to critically engage with the conceptualisation of prosperity in Asia, and the relevant sustainable pathways to prosperity, understanding the economic and social value systems, while taking into consideration country-specific historical conjunctures and cultural features of the Asian countries.
