Urban Walks #5
Join us on April 2nd for the fifth of UCL Urban Lab's 2022 walking tour series, led by Tom Chivers, poet and author of 'London Clay'.

Join poet and writer Tom Chivers, author of London Clay, on a journey through the astonishing landscape of Bow Creek. We will hike from the ruins of a medieval abbey, through the post-industrial landscape of the Lea, and across a former marshland now rebranded for the luxury market. Discover the hidden stories and mysteries of this complex part of East London, an environment defined by water and industry, but reimagined as a site of magical potential.

Walk Details:
Saturday 2nd April, 1100-1330
Start Point: Outside West Ham Station, London.
End Point: Trinity Buoy Wharf.
- Due to limited numbers, we request that you do not book tickets for more than two walks during the series.
- If you are find that you are unable to attend, we request that you cancel your booking at the earliest opportunity, in order that someone else can take your place.
- We foresee continuing the walk in all but the most unpleasant of weather conditions. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
Walk Leader:
Tom Chivers is a writer, publisher and arts producer. He has released two pamphlets of poetry, The Terrors (Nine Arches Press, 2009; shortlisted for the Michael Marks Award) and Flood Drain(Annexe Press, 2012), and two full collections, How To Build A City (Salt Publishing, 2009) and Dark Islands (Test Centre, 2015). His poems have been anthologised in Dear World & Everything In It (Bloodaxe Books, 2013) and London: A History in Verse (Harvard University Press, 2012).
His non-fiction debut London Clay: Journeys in the Deep City was published by Transworld/Doubleday in 2021.
