Data giants or data colonies?
Join us to hear Mark Esposito talk about his research on how the digital economy can build intangible assets. This talk will be chaired by IIPP’s Rainer Kattel with a discussion from Henry Li, Research Fellow, IIPP. Followed by questions from the audience.

Countries have been rushing to make sense of their digitalisation journey and there is a mantra of experimentation around it going forward. In this policy report, the example of the research conducted for a MENA government in the wake of the prioritisation towards digital, is showcased and presented. With the introduction of concepts such as digital prosperity and the diversification of economic assessment of digital economies, this policy report draws on several policy recommendations on how the digital economy can build intangible assets. During this talk, a summary of the results will be discussed.

He is Co-Founder and Chief Learning Officer at Nexus FrontierTech, an AI scale-up venture. He was inducted in 2016 in the radar of Thinkers50 as one of the 30 most prominent rising business thinkers in the world. In his career he has worked as professor at Harvard University, University of Cambridge, Hult International Business School and Arizona State University. He has written 11 books, among which 2 bestsellers, “Understanding how the Future Unfolds” and “The AI Republic” and his next book, “ The Great Remobilization” will be published by MIT University Press in the Fall 2022.
He holds a PhD in Economics from the International School of Management in Paris in joint program with St. John’s and an Executive DBA from Ecole des Ponts Paris Tech.
