Please note that the speaker and topic for this event has changed. Joana Dabaj will now speak about the work of the CatalyticAction charity and design studio, focusing on recently implemented projects and ongoing ones. She will be highlighting how the work is adapting to the current challenges.

Joana Dabaj is an architect, urban designer and researcher. She is co-founder of CatalyticAction charity and . She has valuable experience in architecture in development, sustainable design, cultural heritage, migration and human rights in the Middle East. Her recent work revolves around working closely with displaced and host communities in Lebanon to co-design places; this includes participatory research, design and implementation of built interventions. She collaborated on various research projects with international universities such as University College London and the American University of Beirut, where her experience on the ground and her understanding of the complex Lebanese context was crucial. She developed and facilitated participatory workshops with partners including local and international NGOs. Joana has over 7 years of experience in using participatory design methodologies, working with a range of diverse groups including refugees, children and women.

Sarah Ichioka is an urbanist, curator and writer. She currently leads Desire Lines, a strategic consultancy for environmental, cultural, and social-impact organizations and initiatives. In previous roles, she has explored the intersections of cities, society and ecology within leading international institutions of culture, policy and research.
