Tours of Here East

From 16:30 see the spaces and facilities for your chosen programme.

Bio-Integrated Design (Bio-ID Lab)
Bio-Integrated Design will take you into the lab space and you will have the opportunity to see some of the key equipment in use and speak with current students and academics about their research. We will tour the facilities at Here East to demonstrate the close relationship between studio, workshop and laboratory. Finally, we will show you some student work in progress from Year 1 and 2 cohorts, so that you can gain insight into the skills we teach within Bio-Integrated Design.

Disability, Design and Innovation (Touring)
A whistle stop tour into all things Disability Innovation. Why it matters, what's driving this diverse and dynamic space, and how change is made. We'll show you around our spaces at Here East and provide some insight into our current student projects, the technology, ideas and approaches.

Design for Manufacture (Touring)
We will tour the fabrication and workshop facilities and there will be opportunity to ask questions and find out about the prototypes and materials currently being used, as well as see live demonstrations of several of the KUKA industrial robot arms carrying out robotic-fabrication activities. A selection of work-in-progress by students on the Design for Manufacture programme will be displayed in the studio space, including a selection of prototypes and drawings, along with several examples of completed work from last year's cohort.

Design for Performance and Interaction (Studio and Black Box)
Design for Performance and Interaction will look at student work in progress and discuss their experiences of the programme so far. There will be opportunity to meet with recent alumni and engage with performative practice in our Black Box space.

Healthcare Facilties (Touring) and Learning Environments (Touring)
Explore the Real Estate Institute and our Here East site with the Head of the Institute, Andrew Edkins.

Situated Practice (Olympic Park)
Walking Situated Practice - We will walk the canal from The Bartlett’s space at Here East, skirting the Olympic Park to Hackney Wick, a neighbourhood of local industries alongside the densest concentration of artist studios in Europe under threat from regeneration and gentrification. Along the way, we will be taking readings of the urban landscape collectively.
