CASA Seminar: GIS analysis without statistics (Jenny Willbourn)
GIS analysis without statistics – a look from within a specialist GIS team for Atkins, the global design and engineering consultancy.

GIS and spatial analysis within academia is often based on spatial statistics but there is another side! Jenny works as a GIS consultant for Atkins’ dedicated GIS team and this lecture looks at the manipulation of spatial data attribution and geometry to create visualisations and numeric results ready for interpretation by discipline experts. Technical focus will be given to the ETL software, FME, which can be used in conjunction with or an alternative to python and R. She will take real examples from some of the UKs largest infrastructure projects and cast a light on what it is like to work for an industry leading consultancy.
