IAS/Urban Lab Waste: Christoph Lindner on 'Global Garbage'

From 2016-2019, Prof Lindner was Dean of the College of Design at the University of Oregon, where he also launched and directed the UO Slow Lab, a collaborative research initiative promoting critical and creative enquiry into global cultures of speed, mobility, and connectivity. His recent book publications include Imagining New York City (Oxford University Press, 2015), as well as the edited volumes Deconstructing the High Line (Rutgers University Press, 2017), Global Garbage (Routledge, 2016), Cities Interrupted: Visual Culture and Urban Space (Bloomsbury, 2016), Inert Cities: Globalization, Mobility and Suspension in Visual Culture (I.B. Tauris, 2014), and Paris-Amsterdam Underground (Amsterdam University Press, 2013). He is also general editor of the book series Cities and Cultures.

Professor of Civil Engineering and Head of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at UCL, Prof Cullen works in the fields of fire safety, combustion, environmental remediation and sanitation where he specialises in complex environments such as developing nations, complex urban environments, novel architectures, critical infrastructure, aircraft and spacecraft. He holds a BSc from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (1989), and an MSc (1991) and PhD (1992) from the University of California, Berkeley.
