Urban Lab Films: The Street
With the skyscrapers of the City glinting close by, the area surrounding Hoxton Street has been transformed by luxury redevelopments and sky-high property prices.

As media start-ups and property developers settle in, the traditional, working-class inhabitants of the East London high street are navigating the rough seas of gentrification and austerity.
Visiting the chippie and the church, the new gallery and the old bakery, Zed Nelson meets the inhabitants of the Street, a microcosm for the melting pot of London in the days of Brexit Britain.
The screening will be followed by conversation between director Zed Nelson, writer and journalist Anna Minton, and UCL Urban Laboratory’s Jordan Rowe.
