Spectacle and Dissolution in the Financialised City
The event showcases the screening of the film 'Vertical Horizons' by Tom Wolseley and the exhibition of part of the photography series 'Non-structures' by Fancisco Ibanez.

The event juxtaposes a film about The Shard, a monolithic edifice of notorious spectacle, with a series of photographs of ephemeral constructions, which overcome their metamorphosis and disappear as they are devoid of any function.
The two bodies of work contrast and challenge the boundaries between visibility and anonymity, permanence and temporariness, contingency and symbolism of architecture. They pose a series of questions on how we imagine the future development of cities.
After the screening of Vertical Horizons, there will be a discussion panel chaired by Henrietta Williams.
