Transforming Urban Mobility

The Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI, transformative-mobility.org) is aiming to shape the future of sustainable urban mobility and this seminar will discuss its activities around the world. The Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative, together with its partners ADB, BMZ, CAF, C40, GIZ, ICLEI, ITDP, KfW, SLOCAT, UN-HABITAT and WRI, moves substantial funds to finance urban mobility projects, scale pilot projects and provides policy advice to transform urban mobility globally.
You will have the opportunity to learn more, meet the initiative and exchange your experiences, tackling the biggest challenges towards enabling sustainable urban mobility. Sustainable Mobility is necessary to reach development and climate goals. Mobility is the door opener for more holistic and integrated urban development due to various (co-)benefits and its primary role for spatial development.
Sustainable Mobility is a central theme to AGENDA 2030, seven (7) of 17 SDGs are related to mobility. Many other SDGs can’t be reached without Sustainable Mobility e.g. SDG 11 Sustainable Cities, SDG 13 Climate Protection, SDG 3 Health. Transport is responsible for 28% of energy related GHG emissions; climate protection needs a decarbonized transport sector. By 2050, the amount of cars could triple to 3 billion, the share of transport of total GHG emissions could rise to 70%. 80% of nationally determined contributions (NDC) list transport asan important field of action, and more than 60% identify concrete measures.
