As part of the annual Open House London weekend in September, The Bartlett and The Faculty of Engineering Sciences will be welcoming visitors to their ground-breaking new facilities in East London on a series of free bookable tours and workshops.
Since 1922, Open House London hosts an annual two-day event across London every September. The Open House Weekend event encourages the public to explore exclusive buildings that have an architectural importance, normally closed off the general public.
UCL at Here East is the university's new research, testing and teaching facilties in East London. The building recently won the prestigious AJ100 Building of the Year award. You can find out more about its facilities and the UCL programmes taught there on the UCL at Here East website.

Guided Tours
Architectural Tours
Architectural tours will be led by The Hawkins\Brown team, who were responsible for converting the former Olympic Broadcast Centre for UCL Estates and Here East. Tours will begin on the hour from 11am till 3pm. Book your spot in advance to hear about the thinking that influenced the design of the UCL at Here East campus.

British Sign Language Architectural Tour
An alternative tour for those of hard hearing is availble at 2pm, led by Martin Glover. Drop-ins are welcome on the BSL tour only. Please note: there is no voice interpretation on this tour.

Interactive Workshops
Expand your interests in construction, design, virtual reality technology, creation and collaboration, with our day workshops. Great for ages 16 to 24, we are offering a Virtual Reality and a Structures workshop, both starting at 10 am and ending at 4pm. The workshops will be led by UCL academics who have experience using the exclusive technologies and facilities available only at our Here East campus. We ask participants to commit to stay for the duration of the workshop.
Virtual Reality Workshop
Participants will learn to create a new virtual world using open source software. Master how to digitally scan real world objects and sculptures, then digitally manipulate them to form new surroundings. Come to revolutionalise your experience of sight and texture!

Structure Workshop
Participants will build a series of structures using inflatable material and Styrofoam. Grasp how to build suitable structures that enable you to create a new world to be digitally inhabited. Come and develop your building skills and feel your thinking expand to new horizons!
