The Kiosk: The Diggers Festival of Peace
Architecture MArch Unit 13 student Adrian Yankee Siu is the fourth exhibitor in our micro-exhibition space, The Bartlett Kiosk. Adrian's work proposes a speculative settlement to relocate an eco-activist community called 'The Diggers' in London.

The Diggers crafted an off-the-grid woodland village in Runnymede and hoped to provoke land reform by highlighting this disused land. The Diggers also advocated an ecologically sustainable living model with dwellings built using local materials. In 2015, these squatters were eventually evicted from their self-constructed homeland, after a lawsuit over land ownership.
Adrian's experimental plan in Benfleet aims to extend the legacy of The Diggers and establish a living ecosystem governed by changes in nature, such as sun movements and seasonal transitions. The 'Festival of Peace' would be hosted to celebrate their reform, as well as to promote social autonomy and equality.
