In this seminar Professor Galbraith will examine patterns in global inequality in the post-war period based on the work of the University of Texas inequality project which examines inequality indexes from industrial, regional and sectoral data.

Biography
James K Galbraith holds the Lloyd M Bentsen Jr. Chair in Government/Business Relations, Lyndon B Johnson School of Public Affairs and a professorship in Government, University of Texas at Austin.
He chaired the board of Economists for Peace and Security from 1996 to 2016 and directs the University of Texas Inequality Project. He was Executive Director of the Joint Economic Committee of the United States Congress in the early 1980s. From 1993 to 1997, he served as chief technical adviser to China's State Planning Commission for macroeconomic reform, and in the first half of 2015 he served as an informal councillor to Yanis Varoufakis, the Greek Minister of Finance. In 2016, he advised the presidential campaign of Senator Bernie Sanders.
