08 Mar 2017 | 5pm | London Growth: Housing development in a city of 10M | Kostas Nikolau

The London Growth project was developed using a multidisciplinary spatial analysis methodology in order to explore a range of radical options to respond to the growing need for affordable and accessible housing in London.
While there are many studies tackling this issue today, it is the comprehensive and integrated spatial modelling approach which brings fresh insight to this complex challenge. During this talk, Kostas will be providing a snapshot of the range of possible solutions for housing development in Greater London. Including Modular Housing, Alternative Land use Planning and Policy, and the arguments in favour of and against development in the Green Belt.
Kostas is a Strategic Planning Consultant in BuroHappold’s Cities group. With a background in planning and regional development, and spatial analysis and visualisation, Kostas is responsible for bringing value to the team’s projects through spatial data analytics and technical consultation. This project was the basis of a Bridging East London research project, for which BuroHappold was awarded the “Best Conceptual Project” award in 2016 from the Mayor’s Office.
