This lunchtime seminar explores news from the world of practice, as well as how practice can be incorporated into doctoral research and doctoral research incorporated in practice. 

The event will take the form of four short presentations with Q&As followed by a general discussion.

Projects navigating politics

Javier Jileta, former advisor to Mexico City’s Mayor 2006-2012, and currently doctoral researcher, The Bartlett Development Planning Unit.

Design research as practice

Nerea Amoros Elorduy, former Lecturer at the School of Architecture at University of Rwanda and Co-founder of ASA Studio based in Kigali; doctoral researcher, Bartlett School of Architecture.

Telling stories about architecture

How different modes of practice can be used to examine urban concerns.

Henrietta Williams, a 2nd year student in the Bartlett PhD by Design programme, Bartlett School of Architecture, also working alongside on her photography and video practice called Henrietta Williams Still + Moving. 

A Small Studio Ltd:

Bridging research and practice into a tangible, collaborative and profit-making architecture and planning studio.

Dr Helena Rivera, former Bartlett Doctoral Student, graduated in 2015 completing a AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award (CDA) with the Bartlett School of Planning and The Architecture Foundation (AF). Currently Director of A Small Studio.

The event is open to Bartlett staff, doctoral students, practitioners and anyone thinking of doing a doctorate in a built environment discipline at the Bartlett.
