The SDGs: a tool for peacebuilding in Colombia

Mix Cloud Widget Placeholder Over the past few years, Colombia has been a leader and decisive actor in the proposal and establishment of a new universal and inclusive development agenda for the next 15 years. It showcased its leadership throughout the negotiations of the Sustainable Development Goals and it is one of the first countries to commit to its implementation by setting up a National and Interinstitutional SDG Commission as part of the National Development Plan 2014-2018. Now, with the enforcement of the peace process underway, the SDGs are an opportunity and a tool to build a strong and durable peace within a sustainable development model of growth and prosperity.  Join us as we listen to Felipe Castro, the Technical Secretary of the National 2030 Agenda and SDGs Commission in Colombia, where he will share the challenges and opportunities of the SDGs as a peacebuilding tool for Colombia. 

Felipe Castro. Economist, Javeriana University and MSc in Public Policy, London School of Economics and Political Science. His professional curriculum includes several positions as a researcher, and monitoring and evaluation expert in multilateral organizations, research centres and the Government of Colombia. Currently, he serves as the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation of Public Policies at the National Planning Department of Colombia. From this position, he acts as the Technical Secretary of the High Level Commission for the Effective Implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
