Nowadays the job market is extremely competitive; however, having an MSc degree from UCL distinguishes you from other candidates and shows your ability to commit to an intense period of work. In my current role as a Sustainable Design Assistant I have been applying skills and specialised knowledge I gained from my master's degree, these include Embodied and Whole Life Carbon Analysis, Low Carbon Materials and Design Methodologies.”

Where our graduates are now

As interest in, awareness of and concern about global environmental issues increases, the demand for people with expertise in the health and energy performance of buildings is rising exponentially. Most students who complete the MSc programme move into, or continue in, a building-related profession such as architecture, low-energy design consultancy, or building services engineering. Others use the MSc as a foundation for MPhil or PhD research.

In recent years graduates have joined architects, engineering firms and environmental consultancies, including: ArupAtkins GlobalBere ArchitectsBuro HappoldEnergyExcel, The Facility ArchitectsPHA Consult, Foster + PartnersCamcoPassiv Systems, XCO2 Energy. Many graduates also choose to continue their education with UCL, undertaking PhD or EngD programmes.
