2nd Building Simulation and Optimization Conference: BSO14 UPDATE

18 February 2014

This is IBPSA-England's second national conference, organised in association with the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), and hosted by University College London (UCL). IBPSA England is an affiliate of International Building Performance Simulation Association, a non-profit international society of building performance simulation researchers, developers and practitioners, dedicated to improving the built environment. IBPSA England is founded to advance and promote the science of building performance simulation in order to improve the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of new and existing buildings.

BSO14 is hosted by: The Bartlett School of Graduate Studies,  UCL Energy Institute and UCL Civil Engineering

BSO14 provides a forum for the exchange of knowledge on the development and application of building performance simulation to the optimum design and operation of buildings. The conference has four broad themes:

  • New performance models and simulation methods
  • Procedures for optimizing design and operation
  • Real-world case studies
  • Visualisation in built environment

It our pleasure to report that we have received 208 abstracts from 36 different countries of which 82 of the abstracts submitted from the UK, 76 from the rest of Europe, 9 from the USA, and the remainder  from around the world.

We have got an internationally recognised Scientific Board with 78 experts across the globe. Each submission is reviewed by two members of the Scientific Board in a double blinded peer review process, and it seems that IBPSA England will be a high quality conference; 126 submissions received mark of 70% or above and 200 above 50%. In four parallel sessions we aim to accommodate up to 118 papers. We expect 160 delegates.
