Duties and Responsibilities

UCL IEDE is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Light and Lighting to play a key role in our current and future teaching and research programmes. The successful candidate will be appointed as the Programme Director of MSc Light and Lighting (5 years term, starting in academic 2025/2026) We are looking for an enthusiastic Lecturer to manage this MSc including working on a major revision of this pioneering programme established in 1987 with a student cohort up to 30FTE. Applicants must be able to demonstrate research expertise in light and lighting. Such research expertise includes but not limited to: daylight and lighting simulation, human centred lighting design, inclusive lighting design, lighting ecology and biodiversity, social value & citizen science approach to lighting master planning, circular lighting, AI for the lit environment, and advanced lighting control systems. Key Requirements

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a subject relevant to a research area in the job description, or extensive experience commensurate with a PhD. Experience of high-quality research at a post-doctoral level in a subject relevant to the research and teaching areas outlined in the job description. Experience of research-based teaching at postgraduate level including preparation of course guides, lecture and seminars, setting of assessments and development of interdisciplinary teaching material.
