CIBSE has recently published a revised version of its design stage energy projection guidance, CIBSE TM54:2022 titled “Evaluating Operational Energy Use at the Design Stage”. The document provides guidance on how to project operational energy use once a building's design has been developed. The new version brings an updated perspective to the various approaches to modelling, including dynamic simulation with HVAC systems. It also incorporates more detailed guidance around risks, target setting, scenario testing and sensitivity analysis.

UCL IEDE academics Dr Nishesh Jain, Dr Esfand Burman and Professor Dejan Mumovic were key contributors to the revision of the technical memorandum document along with experts form the industry. This highlights the practical application and impact of the research conducted at the UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering (IEDE).

CIBSE is organising a launch event on Tuesday 8 March, 2022, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM (GMT) where Dr Nishesh Jain will be part of a panel of experts who will present and discuss the new guidance released. You can register here.
