Building a career at the intersection of global business and sustainability
After completing the Business and Sustainability MSc at UCL, Caroline Morell began working as a Sustainability Analyst at an international investment bank in London. Her role focuses on sustainability reporting and driving internal ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) initiatives.
The variety of modules that covered different aspects of sustainability within organizations prepared me well for my role. Additionally, working on collaborative projects with my cohort was great preparation for my job as these experiences taught me to work effectively in teams and engage constructively with diverse perspectives.”

Caroline’s academic and professional background
Before joining the MSc, Caroline studied International Political Economy, gaining a solid understanding of the dynamics of global markets and policy. She later took a short online course in business and sustainability with the University of Cambridge to deepen her interest in the subject.
Following this, she worked as a Research and Innovation Intern at a charity focused on sustainability in the built environment.
That experience gave me a hands-on view of the practical challenges organisations face when implementing sustainability initiatives.”
These experiences helped her step into the MSc with a clear focus and a strong starting point.

Advice for future students
Caroline shares her advice for students considering the course or a career in sustainability:
My advice to future students or anyone aiming to build a career in sustainability is to try to build a solid understanding of the many different dimensions of business and sustainability and focus in on the areas that truly interest you. Additionally, it’s essential to recognise the importance of networking and learning from other’s experiences in this complex and evolving field.”
