New undergraduate degrees in Sustainable Built Environments, Energy and Resources for 2023/24

To protect the world and its people from the effects of climate change, we must adapt our built environment to become more sustainable and resource efficient. The Sustainable Built Environments, Energy and Resources BSc and MEng degree programme will provide students with the vital skills needed to help design and create a more sustainable future.  

The solution-oriented programme is the first of its kind to bring together the three primary factors impacting sustainability: social, economic and environmental. It will be taught by a range of leading experts from across the four Institutes comprising the Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources and will give students the complex real-world skills needed for decisive action.

The course covers a broad range of topics, from engineering zero-carbon built environments to the economics of resources energy and the environment. Students can choose to apply to either a BSc (Hons) or a MEng route depending on their aspiration. Students undertaking the BSc will gain a broad understanding of sustainability, applicable across many fields. Students undertaking the MEng will have the accreditation needed to become chartered engineers. Whichever path they choose, students will leave the programme fully equipped to become the sustainability leaders of tomorrow.
