The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources (BSEER) is seeking a Senior Research Administrator to join the team that manage the department’s £70 million research portfolio that is funded from every UKRI council and multiple international sources.

Duties and Responsibilities

The post holder will manage grants from the proposal stage and costings to account set-up, providing financial budgeting information, promotion of outputs, and final report submission. The post holder will line manage a grade 6 Research Administrator. This will involve setting objectives, supervising and managing workloads.

BSEER is a fast growing, internationally renowned School for cross disciplinary research with economists, energy modellers, social scientists, building engineers, physicists and heritage specialists all working to mitigate climate change.


Key Requirements

Educated to undergraduate standard, the successful candidate will have experience of managing research funding related issues and financial administration of research grants. They will be familiar with Full Economic Costing proposal tools (such as Worktribe, or PFact) and funder proposal systems (such as J-ES.)

They will have a record of successful line management and development of staff with proven team leadership and motivational skills, or appropriate training with a view to stepping up to line management.  The post-holder should be successful at managing projects, compiling complex data, and producing concise written reports. Ability to maintain accurate financial records and develop financial procedures, and to analyse budgets and produce management reports is required.

The post holder must be proactive, efficient, organised and take great care in attention to detail.  The role requires interaction with many people within and external to UCL thus a professional attitude, willingness to help and a positive outlook are required.
