Biography

Sumit Kothari is a PhD student at the Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources at University College London. He is affiliated with the UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources as a member of the LINKS programme on global climate finance as well as the UCL Energy Institute through his contributions to the energy systems decarbonisation research programmes.

His research focuses on the application of complex systems analysis to the area of climate change mitigation, investigating the pathways of low-carbon energy transition, global climate finance flows, investments in solar energy, local innovation and deployment of low-carbon energy technologies, and financing issues for low-carbon energy in developing countries.

Sumit holds an MSc in Economics and Policy of Energy and the Environment from University College London and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. He also has significant work experience in the banking and finance industry having worked as a quantitative analyst for close to ten years at a global investment bank.
