The UCL Energy Institute, KPMG and ICCT (International Council on Clean Transportation) are collaborating to develop a virtual centre for shipping energy efficiency data and analysis methods.

The proposed intent of this centre is to exercise the highest standards of data collection, analysis and presentation, and accompany this with insightful and transparent modeling and data manipulation.

The objective is to progress the energy efficiency of the global shipping fleet through providing evidence to policy makers, and informing voluntary schemes, initiatives and the shipping stakeholder community.

The initial phase of the work will be carried out in 2012 with the intention of feeding outputs fed into IMO's MEPC and other ongoing policy debates.
