UCL Energy Institute, in collaboration with UCL Mechanical Engineering, sustainability consultants GL Reynolds, maritime information provider Fathom, and classification society Lloyds Register have launched 'Practical Environment and Energy Efficiency Management for Shipping', a CPD course in applied systems thinking for the shipping industry.

The course will enable knowledge transfer from an ongoing RCUK Energy programme funded project "Low Carbon Shipping - A Systems Approach" and to increase engagement in real-world problems in an industry facing mounting regulation complexity and the economic challenges associated with high oil prices. Tristan Smith, Lecturer in Energy and Transport at the UCL Energy Institute is a co-founder and joint course director.
