UCL-Energy academics publish data analysis from heat pumps installed via RHPP Scheme

12 February 2016

UCL-Energy has published data analysis from heat pumps installed via the Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP) to the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).

The analysis has been carried out by UCL-Energy researchers Alex Summerfield, Phillip Biddulph, Andrew Stone, Chris Grainger, Paolo Agnolucci, Colin Gleeson, Eleni Oikonomou, and Bob Lowe.

The aim of this report is to build on a preliminary analysis that was undertaken by DECC (Wickins, 2014) to provide the most up-to-date picture of the overall performance of heat pump systems in the RHPP sample under standard UK weather conditions. In addition, the report provides estimates of the extent of renewable energy generation as defined under the EU Renewable Energy Directive, expected carbon and energy cost savings from these heat pump systems in comparison with the use of other fuels, and statistics such as annual load factors.
