Within the literature that reflects on and prepares researchers for investigating sensitive topics, managing mental and emotional wellbeing is conspicuous in its absence. Shame around mental health and concerns about bias and subjectivity in academia can silence our ability to engage with what we see, hear, do, and feel as we gather information, and breaking this silence promotes clarity in the theories, concepts, and methods we develop to make sense of violence as a social phenomenon. This workshop is the starting point for a collective process of seeking and finding critical guidance and support. Professors, research staff, and postgraduate students are all welcome.
