Recently, a plethora of academic literature has been published on the intricate relationship that exists between the social environment and the health status of individuals. This trend, however, seemed to have failed to cause the same kind of stir in Malta. The research aims to use innovative geospatial techniques to map out socio-spatial health inequalities that exist on the Mediterranean Island of Malta.

Biography

Denise is a PhD Researcher at the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA), within UCL’s Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment. She holds a Degree in Geography, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and an MA in Geography by Research, from the University of Malta. Her main research interests lie in the area of health geography, specifically in relation to how specific aspects of the environment ‘get under the skin’ to influence the health of children and youths. She is a Postgraduate Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).

Research Interests

Her current research interests lie in the areas of health and wellbeing geographies, geographies of youth and children, and geospatial analytics.
