Construction Law Sabbatical Scheme
The School is offering a one-year sabbatical period to one permanent member of staff, which will run throughout the academic year of 2024/25.
The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction (BSSC) is aiming to strengthen its internal capability in construction law, by supporting current members of staff to develop their construction law expertise through a new sabbatical scheme.
About the scheme
The School is offering a one-year sabbatical period to one permanent member of staff, which will run throughout the academic year of 2024/25.
This sabbatical will be used so that BSSC staff can develop their professionalism and high calibre of scholarship, teaching and innovation for which the department is renowned, in the area of construction law.
The sabbatical period will take the form of a sponsored pupillage in a Chambers with construction expertise, leading on successful completion to eligibility to be authorised as a barrister (i.e. enabling full professional qualification). Following the sabbatical period, the staff member will return to the School. On the return to the school, the member of staff will be helping lead the new construction law teaching curriculum development of the department (MSci, MEng) and research.
Eligibility
Any academic member of staff based in the BSSC, and on an open-ended contract, who is interested in developing their construction law expertise, is invited to apply.
Applications will be judged on two criteria:
- Suitability of the applicant’s CV: This includes applicants being able to demonstrate eligibility to undertake a pupillage in line with the regulatory requirements for the training and professional qualification of barristers. See more information here.
