Meet Philippa, MBA candidate and Head of Infrastructure at Old Oak Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC), as she shares about her experience studying the Major Infrastructure Delivery MBA.
Why did you choose to study the Major Infrastructure Delivery MBA?
After working in engineering consultancy for 18 years, and having joined a large public organisation, I was looking for a leadership course that was specific for the stage of my career and to suit working full time. I chose the MBA in Major Infrastructure Delivery after having attended the launch event where I heard from the CEOs and sponsors who co-created the course. I was convinced of the MBA's full industry backing.
Describe how you’ve been able to apply the skills and knowledge you’ve learned on the course to your current role?
Each module has been really interesting and relevant, enabling me to reflect on my own project experiences and how they fit into the project theory. The course also offers some practical tips on how I may be able to lead my workstreams. I have definitely honed my skills at speed reading and am now able to grasp concepts quickly and turn these into key ideas or themes.
What aspects of your studies have you enjoyed most, during your time on the MBA?
The quality of the teaching and the guest speakers are excellent. I have also greatly benefitted from meeting some amazing people in my cohort who have provided career support and advice.
How do you foresee your MBA studies helping you as you move forward in your career?
The MBA helps me to improve leadership skills to produce better outcomes for my projects. It also gives me confidence in my role to make decisions.
What was your experience of the teaching and level of support on this course?
The level of teaching has been excellent with module leaders offering drop-in sessions.
What advice would you give to those thinking about studying the Major Infrastructure Delivery MBA at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction?
Attend the pre-course events and try finding out as much as you can about the commitment before taking the course. Speak to your employer who may be able to support you both with the time off and financially.
