PhD student wins the 2024 WGDO International Contribution Award for Green Design

BSSC PhD student Weibing Liu successfully received the WGDO International Contribution Award for Green Design for 2024 this January.

Congratulations to PhD student Weibing Liu on being awarded The World Green Design Organization (WGDO) International Contribution Award for Green Design. WGDO recognised four professionals this year for their exceptional contributions to improving living environments through green design. Founded in 2013 in Brussels, Belgium, WGDO is the first international non profit organisation promoting global green transitions and climate action via green design. With Special Consultative Status at the UN Economic and Social Council, WGDO boasts nearly 300 group members and over 600 individual members across 26 countries.

At the awards ceremony in Brussels, Belgium this month, WGDO recognised Weibing Liu for his pioneering efforts in integrating green and low carbon principles into regional ecological architecture. With over 30 years dedicated to preserving and revitalising traditional rural settlements in Sichuan, China, his work has earned global acclaim. Currently pursuing a PhD at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, UCL, Weibing is focusing on advancing low carbon building technologies.
