BSSC Student wins Gold Award from the World Design Organization

BSSC PhD student Weibing Liu's design was awarded the ‘Gold Award of 2024 International innovative design competition for sustainable living environment’, by the World Design Organization (WDO) and the German Green Product Award (GPA). 

‘Gold Award of 2024 International innovative design competition for sustainable living environment’, by the World Design Organization (WDO) and the German Green Product Award (GPA).

The award-winning project - 2024 World Horticultural Expo Meishan Garden in China, employs local traditional handcrafted building techniques and simple contemporary all-bamboo construction to express to the world the eco-habitat culture and contemporary low-carbon values. The project was designed under the guidance of Professor Tim Broyd and Dr Shen Wei from The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction will be exhibited at the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in 2024.

Weibing Liu said: “I am very honoured to receive the international gold medal. The guidance and encouragement from two of my BSSC mentors has strengthened my confidence in exploring a sustainable future across disciplines.”
