17 June 2021

Nahim Ahmed

Nahim Ahmed has been recognised in the Queens Birthday Honours list and has been awarded an MBE for his services to disadvantaged young people in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

Over the past decade, Nahim has been working both in the private and voluntary sectors to help young people and local residents with their development, focusing on directing projects/programmes that will help bring positive sustainable changes and transform the lives of those that need it the most.

Currently, Nahim is working as the Youth and Community Engagement Manager for Poplar HARCA / Spotlight and has just recently gained a scholarship to study a Masters in Strategic Management of Projects at University College London (UCL).

Nahim commented: “I am so honoured and humbled to receive such an award - an MBE! It’s still not sinking in. An incredible moment for me that signifies not only my commitment and work with young people but also how far I have come as an individual. No doubt, this recognition will give me a massive platform to showcase everything I am about and re-ignites my passion for Youth and Community Work.”

Having already established enduring relationships with thousands of disadvantaged young people and key stakeholders, Nahim hopes to make the society we live in a more prosperous one, full of opportunities and to promote community cohesion.

Nahim commented: As much as this is a proud moment, we still face some of the biggest societal issues affecting young people. I will continue to serve the young people of Tower Hamlets and do my best to create opportunities for them by collaborating with like-minded professionals who inspire and motivate me too.”
