Meet Jiten, MBA candidate and Head of Engineering & Environment (BCZ) at HS2, as he shares about his study experience at the Major Infrastructure Delivery MBA.
Why did you choose to study the Major Infrastructure Delivery MBA?
It is the first time I have seen an advanced qualification targeted at the delivery of major infrastructure projects. The level of investment internationally on infrastructure is such that industry expertise needs to be able to keep up. I chose this MBA because it will offer a step-change in both breadth and depth of knowledge relevant to my professional domain. In this respect, it will enable me to help address the challenges infrastructure projects face.
Describe how you’ve been able to apply the skills and knowledge you’ve learned on the course to your current role?
The MBA content is very much outside of my current role, and therefore, outside of my comfort zone, another reason I chose to undertake the course. Despite this, a key aspect of the MBA is developing the ability to critically analyse a given situation or problem, which is helping me bring different angles to problem-solving in my current role.
What aspects of your studies have you enjoyed most, during your time on the MBA?
While the block-study approach is intensive, it has also been incredibly enjoyable. This is due not only to the challenging lectures delivered by world-class professionals, but also to the opportunity to get to know the cohort and make new friends, both nationally and internationally, which has been equally rewarding.
How do you foresee your MBA studies helping you as you move forward in your career?
I envision that the combination of increased knowledge and a growing professional network - including a mentor who is the CEO of a mega-project - will provide a strong foundation upon which new career opportunities can arise.
What was your experience of the teaching and level of support on this course?
The blend of academics and industry leaders giving lectures provides a well-rounded experience, perspectives and a tangible connection between theory and the practical workings of major UK infrastructure projects.
What advice would you give to those thinking about studying the Major Infrastructure Delivery MBA at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction?
If you are up for a challenge, you won’t regret it!
