The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction (UCL) and The International Project Management Association (IPMA) announce the next global keynote of The IPMA-UCL Megaproject CEO series. Coordinated by UCL’s Dr. Juliano Denicol, Global Head of the IPMA Megaprojects SIG, the IPMA-UCL Megaproject CEO invites a stellar group of leaders that are at the forefront of megaproject delivery practices. The Megaproject CEO builds upon the growing interest in leadership practices and recent research that recommends an emphasis on building and leading collaborations to advance our understanding of megaproject delivery.
Dr Juliano Denicol, IPMA Global Head Megaprojects SIG said: "We are delighted to receive Stuart Crooks, Managing Director of Hinkley Point C, one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects. Hinkley Point C (HPC) is Britain’s first new nuclear power station in more than 30 years, it will power 6 million homes and will help the UK to achieve net zero. HPC is building two new nuclear reactors, providing zero-carbon electricity for 60 years. Construction of the whole of Unit Two and its systems is benefiting from the lessons learned over at Unit One. Many tasks are achieved in 20% to 30% less time than on Unit One. The replication principle underpins the plans to build an identical power station at Sizewell in Suffolk. Hinkley Point C has dedicated education programmes designed to support the workforce and develop the UK’s industrial capability."
