Yao is currently a Research Associate at CASA working on Resolution (REsilient Systems fOr Land Use TransportatION) project with a special focus on the (re)formation of social inequality due to the shift of transport accessibilities in London and São Paulo.

Dr. Shen is a trained architect, urban designer, and geographer. Currently, he is working on the RESOLUTION project with Professor Michael Batty at CASA. He obtained his Ph.D. from Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London (UCL), which was fully sponsored by Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC). He received his B.Eng. and M.Eng. from School of Architecture in Tianjin University with distinction honors in 2009 and 2012 respectively. His main research interests focus on urban morphology in the new data environment, urban data mining, big-data-based spatial analysis, generative urban modeling and data-informed urban design.
