Heroes, Villains and History is an interactive, game-based experience conceived and developed by artist Imwen Eke through participation in the 2017 B3 Media TalentLab
Exploring the power and politics of storytelling, this project aims to move agency to action, inviting audiences to engage with stories, deconstruct history and hack identities to create their own hero or villain by working through a social gameplay story in three acts (rooms).
For this project, researchers in Connected Environments are collaborating with Imwen and young people (18-25) connected to Youth Empowerment to research and develop the second of these rooms, the Puzzle Room.
This collaboration draws on previous Connected Environments research exploring the potential for using new technologies, including VR and AR, to enable audiences to examine the power and politics of storytelling and foster critical thinking.
